The visit served to present the local ecosystem of Vilanova i la Geltrú, especially the actors, projects and strategies linked to the blue economy, innovation and talent development, as well as to explore how to adapt collaborative governance methodologies to the local context.

During the two days, different workshops and meetings were held with representatives of the City Council, Neàpolis and key agents in the territory. Participants included political and technical representatives of the municipality, as well as actors linked to the maritime, educational, business and fishing sectors.

The program included visits to the Port of Vilanova i la Geltrú , to companies and entities linked to the blue economy such as Pendennis Vilanova , the Fishermen’s Guild , the GALP , as well as to the UPC’s bioacoustic applications laboratory and to different educational (Institut Lluch i Rafecas) and cultural facilities in the city.

The workshops held in Neàpolis have allowed work on the project objectives, the configuration of the URBACT local group (ULG) and the identification of specific actions that can strengthen cooperation between administration, companies, training centers and social agents.

Vilanova i la Geltrú’s participation in Network4Work represents an opportunity to continue consolidating local development strategies based on collaboration, innovation and the connection between talent, employment and emerging economic sectors.
